Class Participation

Note the high percentage given to your intellectual contribution to the class through your public interactions. The quality of interaction that you have with other students is simply the most important determinant of your learning experience and ultimately what you will take away from this class.

Here are some things that I will look for in evaluating the quality of your contribution:

  • You should ask questions of other students.
  • You should answer questions previously posed by other students.
  • Where possible you should introduce material from outside of the class.

Every week, I will record a score representing an assessment of your contribution.

3 represents an excellent contribution
2 represents a good contribution
1 represents a small contribution
0 represents no contribution

Halfway through the semester, I will publish your grade "to date". This will allow you to adjust, if needed, to receive a higher grade at the end of the semester.

"100" average score between 2.5 and 3
"80" average score between 1.5 and 2.4
"75" average score less between 0.5 and 1.4
"0" no comments
